I hate the idea of stupidity and ignorance. At the same time I like those who live passionately and don't waste their lives on worry or hesitation. How then can one live passionately in light of the seemingly inescapable fact that in order to propel yourself in any direction, you have to assume a degree of naive optimism? Skepticism inevitably leads to doubt and fear as we grow more and more aware of that which were once ignorant of.
Why do I have such a complex about my own intelligence?
