Why do I have a sharp pain when drinking water or eating sweets 5 days after

dental extraction? I had dental surgery 5 days ago (Fri, Feb 25th) to remove 2 impacted supernumerary (extra) teeth that were residing on the lingual side of the lower left jaw. They had fully formed, deep roots. On one of them, the dentist chose to leave a part of the root in because it was too deep to reach.

I am now experiencing a localized sharp pain when I drink cold and hot liquids as well as lukewarm sweet liquids. The pain only lasts for a few seconds. The area feels weird afterward... not throbbing with pain though. I receive the same sharp pain when I rinse my mouth after brushing the teeth on the other side. I'm guessing the toothpaste is causing the reaction.

I have pain-relief when I rinse the area with *lukewarm* salt-water.

Why do I have this pain? I would love for a dentist to answer!!! Do I need to go back to the surgeon?

THANKS IN ADVANCE! :)

p.s. perhaps unrelated, but I also had my 4 wisdom teeth removed at the same time. These sites are doing well, though. No pain nor discomfort.
