Why do I feel depressed after intense exercise?

This past weekend I did two days of training in a row, intense running on both days, and on one day, squats as well. For 3 days after, I've been feeling extremely depressed and that "in a coma" feeling, completely washed out and drained. This never happens when I do moderate exercise, but when I do it intensely, I always spiral into a depression for a couple days. Does anyone know why this may be happening? I'm 36 years of age, in good health, and in good shape. My running routine is not that long, it's 20 minutes, but on rough terrain and quite intense.
