Why do Hollywood keep screwing up remakes

I have a vague recollection reading this remake is being done as a comedy. The main joke being, it'll be set in the present day where, as you point out, 6 million dollars to 'rebuild him' isn't a whole lot of money...

The plot changes they've made look hilarious. I read that instead of communists trying to get their man in the White House, they've changed it into 'the interests of global corporations'. How very far fetched.

Uh... hold on a minute....

The problem with remakes is the same as with any film that some work and some dont. I really liked The Ring, Starsky and Hutch, Dawn Of The Dead and I am looking forward to Willy Wonka, Bewitched and Dukes Of Hazzard!
It amazed me that anybody would consider Superman or Batman as remakes as these are classic comic book characters that have appeared in various T.V shows and Films over the last 50 years. I have to say that I am looking forward to the new Batman film more than any film next year especially with the cast on this new film!

Guys, here's another thought. Imagine you wrote or directed a cult movie that is sensational but for whatever reason never got released outside your county. Just so happens a teenage fan later becomes a big Hollywood director

Its gets worse and worse with remakes as Sam Raimi is remaking Evil Dead. Sam Raimi and producing partners Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell will retool the 80's genre classic for a contemporary audience via through Ghost House Pictures and Senator International. It doesn't say whether Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash for the film but it does look unlikely. If the series is starting from scratch they might get a new Ash, a younger Ash. Also Sam Raimi's is not directing it!
