Hello. The particular incident brought this question to light involved my brother. My siblings and I have a Jamaican mother and a Portuguese father (Yeah I know that's rare). Well a couple of weeks ago my brother who is a couple of years younger signed up for a Latin Club thing. This club has been organized by the small Latino/Latin/Mediterreanian community to help engage the youngsters because London has a very small Latino community I guess. It organizes cultural/sports activities and stuff. The club itself is headed by a majority of South American/Central Latin Americans with few Spanish and Portuguese people (European).
My cousin (who is white European Portuguese) initially recommended my bother to check it out. When he tryed to join he told them our Dad is Portuguese but they didn't want to hear it. He even showed them his I.D to show our last name. But they said no and said it was 'full anyway'. Now my brother is not your stereotypical 'portuguese' guy when it comes to appearance. He has dread locks but you can tell he is mixed. Anyway he decided not to bother and he was too proud to run and complain to 'Daddy'. He told me about it and I could tell it kind of hurt him. I told my Dad about it anyway. The next day my Dad immidietly drove down there very angry and told them where they could stick their club. My grandfather was reeling when he heard about this too. In fact the whole of my Dad's family were disappointed. That's why I know that it's not everybody from that specific culture that's like this but the question still remains.
