Ethanol is a completely different process and supposedly were not depending on other countries for it. Why is it that when regular fuel prices go up or down so does the flex fuel? They can't blame the middle east for raising their prices on this one. Who should get the blame? I don't see the price for alcohol on the shelf in drug stores changing? (I know flex fuel is only an 85% mixture so I understand if regular gas goes up 0.15 its understandable for flex fuel to go up 0.01.)

ethanol is based, among other things, on the price of corn, which has skyrocketed recently. Further, as more and more flex fuel cars go on the road, there is greater competition for a limited supply of flex fuel, so prices go up. oil prices go up when the world(and especially the U.S.) wants more of it-it really doesn't depend a great deal on what the middle east "charges".

Supply and demand.

When your competition raises prices, you can raise prices as well. When your competition lowers prices, you must lower prices.

Kind of like when Wal-mart started the $4 generic drug program, every other pharmacy had to follow if they wanted to stay in business.

It's all about money. Always has been. Always will be. If the government can charge for wind, they will.
