Why do flash games run so jerky?

I have a fairly decent PC, it's getting on a little bit, but runs at 2.5Ghz and has a decent GFX card and is still capable of playing top 3D games etc. but whenever I play flash games - e.g. Farmville, the game play is very slow and the graphics are very jerky.

I have tried updating to the latest flash player and tried in a couple of different browsers (IE & Chrome)

Am I doing something wrong or is this just limited by the Adobe flash player?
Task manager is showing Chrome is taking up about 50% of the CPU. The rest is idle
 
Your PC should be running flash nice and quick.

have you tried looking at task manager to see which program is at 100% processor? - sounds like you have something hogging the 2.5Ghz processor.


Also having 2 or 3 flash games running can have this problem - farmville and youtube at the same time for example.
