Let me clarify. I meant Offshore Oil Drilling.
You guys are saying because we need oil...but we still a large majority of it from other countries and Off Shore Drilling is a small portion of the oil we get.
 
Oil plays a big part in the souths economy, people are furious the government has stopped drilling. Between the seafood industry and the oil industry millions of people have lost their incomes.
 
For states like Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and others, its a large portion of their work force. If unemployment is 10% now, it will only get worse (possibly quadruple) by placing a moratorium on drilling!

Furthermore, we need the oil!

Buying oil from countries that hate us has allowed for the largest transfer of wealth in the history of civilization. If we drilled, unemployment would go down, economy would grow stronger and energy independence could be obtainable.

and that was no accident anyways.
