Why do cons who complain about "big government" rarely mention the waste in the

military? Or abuse of the system by military vets, which many non-disabled vets will honestly and openly attest to?

Where's all the wrath toward military waste equal to the wrath doled out to single mothers on welfare? Why, in the first place, is being a vet so much more honorable than being a mother?

P.S. You don't have to feed me the "lay your life on the line" B.S. Many vets don't even see combat, and people in lots of professions "lay their lives on the line" and don't get the unquestioned respect or the benefits for life.
Um, so, just because I criticize the military, I "don't know anyone" who's ever been in it? Thanks for the typical conservative fallacies. Both of my grandfathers served overseas, one in the Navy, and hold the same views as I.
"Vets deserve the same health plan as the congress that sent them into harms way.": I don't really buy this for two reasons. 1. Military recuits know what they're signing up for, so to speak, which is, they supposedly "know" the risk and made the informed choice to take it. This is agreed upon by conservatives and liberals alike. 2. Are you suggesting that all employers/bosses who send their employees to do more dangerous work than themselves owe them the same benefits? So where are the massive benefits for oil-field workers and firefighters?

Wrong.

Ron Paul supporters have been trying to discuss this at length with anyone who would listen. A strong national defense is necessary... Nation building is not.

Edit.. I read the rest of your question.. Um Vets deserve the same health plan as the congress that sent them into harms way..

Because the same people who are so paranoid about spending even a dollar too much on hungry children think the military can do no wrong. It makes no sense, other than to reveal their basically violent nature.

Because you ignorant troll. Being a vet means your life was on the line the entire time you wore the uniform. Why was their life on the line? Because they were protecting the rights of ignorant imbeciles like you to go out in public and bash them even though they were fighting on your behalf. As far as being an unwed slut that got pregnant, well if you cant see how that is a drain on our economy then you need to crawl back under your rock. If it werent for vets we would still be kissing the feet of some tyrant from another country. Or better yet we might be speaking Japanese or German right now.

Because it is the only thing in government that does what it is supposed to do. As a Nam vet I can honestly say, you have know clue what you are talking about. Peace

Because they don't address the real issues, or they don't understand the real issues. Sometimes living in this country can be harsh, I try to tune out as much ridiculousness as possible.

Your writing is insightful and I enjoyed it:)

Unlike many of the other expensive programs in government, spending on defense is actually constitutional. Is there waste, you bet, but our own system perpetuates it.

All veterans lay their life on the line. Knowing someone who served is not the same as having served. I know this, after listening to stories about the military while growing, I didn't believe them until having actually experienced many of the same things. The nature of their work is dangerous without having an enemy present to fight. Just on an aircraft carrier, they have 2 nuclear reactors, they move thousands of pounds in explosive ordnance daily, they move thousands of gallons of fuel daily, they aircraft taking off and landing almost 24/7, do civilians have to do that? Plus those free benefits for life, aren't free. We pay for them.

and don't forget the 2 trillion the federal reserve gave the FINANCIAL INSTITUTION ..................... BEFORE BUSH GAVE THEM THE 1ST TRILLION DOLLARS.
