...apple? This is one of many examples that atheists and Christians don't get their information from the Bible, but from paintings, movies, and other secular sources.
 
I doubt that most atheist give it a second thought considering that most atheist know that Genesis is just a myth. And, as mentioned earlier, it was more than likely a pomegranate since it is indigenous to Southwestern Asia and has been cultivated for thousands of years in the Middle East.
