Why do Asians like announcing that they're Asian?

I read stupid cr* like "I'm Asian too" you know, you know, stuff like that. They answer questions just to say "I'm Asian but..." You don't have to say it, just answer the question like normal people and move on

Pfft, YEAH I'm Asian Too!
