Why do Americans whine so much about the healthcare system compared to people in other..

...developed countries? Are Americans just naturally whinier, or what?

I don't remember there being NEARLY this level of angst over healthcare, of all issues, when I was in Australia.

Healthcare was pretty much a settled issue down there.

I mean, come on - it's 2009. Most developed countries instituted their healthcare systems back in the 1950's to the 1970's, and things have been humming along since then.

Why so Americans whine so darn much about healthcare?

Just buy some insurance and quit whining, idiots. And if you can't afford insurance, just pop into the emergency room without ID - they'll treat you anyway, and won't even be able to bill you.

If you need prescription drugs, get 'em from Mexico or Canada.

What's to whine about? What's the big problem here?
I mean, I agree that our HC system sucks compared to Australia's, but still, it could be worse.

Because there are a lot of people who would love to buy health insurance, but they're uninsurable due to a pre-existing condition. And I'm not just talking about a condition that they brought upon themselves. Some people develop medical problems that they didn't do anything to cause, and because of it, insurance companies refuse to cover them for anything.

They're willing to buy insurance, but the insurance companies are not willing to sell it to them.
