Why do all these little girls wear hats in photos and avatars?

But I never see anyone wearing them in real life? Whenever I see a girl wearing some silly hat in an avatar or a photo on here or myspace or whatever, I instantly assume she's a total phony/poser.

Opinions?
Tobias, quite the contrary actually. It's amusing. Sounds like me asking a simple question is "such a big problem" for you. Lighten up...
 
Uhh, not really.

Some people don't like to wear hats for long periods of time for various reasons. I think it's totally ok to wear them in photos. Why not? Spice it up a bit, no one likes boring pictures.

BUT, I do agree with you on levels. Such as, girls wearing gangster hats and flat bills with abercrombie clothes? Its pretty annoying, I see it in more 5th and 6th graders.
