Why do all the best tv shows and movies come from the US?

The rest of the world loves our entertainment industry, but we don't import nearly as many movies/tv shows as we export. Why isn't the rest of the world as good at this stuff as us?
 
It's not necessarily that the rest of the world's cinema sux it more like contracts for foreign movies aren't purchased by theaters for showing as often because markets here often don't like watching them. there are plenty of examples of foreign movies that rock! and even won awards at Cannes but weren't shown widespred here. And don't appear up here until the released on DVD. Also more movies are produced here because of Hollywood and Hollywood North.
