Why do 9/11 truthers come up with such outlandish conspiracy theories?

If I were convinced that the 9/11 attacks were an "inside job", I'd probably come up with a theory along the lines of "the government brainwashed some arab guys to hijack planes and crash them into buildings". Something relatively simple, something that wouldn't require hordes of people to be in on the whole thing. People who actually believe such things, however, always seem to embrace incredibly convoluted theories that would require a massive number of conspirators, such as this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssuAMNas1us) which involves that the planes which struck the twin towers were outfitted with large laser cannons, which fired at the tower moments before impact. Why is it that truthers pass over any number of simpler theories, and instead present ideas like this one?
 
The people claiming this as an inside job are absolutely pitiful. They ignore science and physics in favor of voodoo and witchcraft.
 
Still waiting for one of you nay sayers to explain why the 20th hijacker(Zacarias Moussaoui) was in FBI custody for weeks before the attack without the attack being prevented?

He was detained because he wanted to learn how to fly a jumbo jet without bothering to learn to land it.

Who at FBI HQ denied FISA warrants requested by the field office(Minneapolis) that detained him?

Keep in mind this all happened about the time Bush was warned "Bin Laden determined to strike inside the US"!

BTW---Why is this obstructed FBI terrorism investigation only a footnote in the "official" 911 report?

The only thing I could buy is that the U.S. Government knew the attack was coming and they allowed it to happen so they could use the event to their advantage.

Even then that is pushing it.
