After just finishing the book, it is to my understanding that (comparing the two stories Pi shares with the interviewers)....
Pi = the tiger
The Cook = the hyena
The orangutan = Pi's mother
The sailor boy = the zebra
The hyena kills the zebra, then the orangutan (like the cook kills the sailor boy and Pi's mother).
I know why it doesn't kill the tiger, because it is clearly inferior.
but my question is, why would the cook be afraid of Pi?......because he doesn't kill him either (if the cook is supposed to represent the hyena and Pi the tiger).
