why did the US media wish to reveal and push the abuses that happened in the US

POW camps ? can you explain their reasoning in wishing to educate people about the abuses that occured at Abu Grave for example, revealing pictures of muslims stacked on top of each other naked and even more gruesome pictures of blatent abuse by US military?

what affects did this have for the people who were able to see this on the news media?

please explain your views.
 
By the time those pictures were seen, we knew that Bush had lied about the war, had manufactured so-called "evidence," and that Cheney (with no Constitutional authority) had been ordering torture and inhumane treatment of the prisoners.

BTW, they were NOT POWs. That's one of the inhumane treatments we're discussing: the holding of persons against their will with no charges filed against them.
