Pilgrims and Europeans are the best example of how to immigrate, then refusing to assimilate and refusing to learn the native language are the examples to copy, right?

Do you find it funny the Descendants of those losers are telling immigrants to assimilate and learn English in the United States?

I find your lack of understanding about history laughable. Is it right to day like it was in the past just to get some weapons a plunder another tribe?

It was OK then not today.

Was it OK for the Aztecs to kill thousands by cutting their victims hearts out?

Edit - by the morality of the past I think those 'losers' won?

Many did... too bad, thats the past, move into the present and if you dont like it, leave.

I dont' accept the premise of your question. The Europeans brought many advancements to the Indians when they came here. Concurrently, Indians taught pilgrims how to live off this land. The question posed doesn't go beyond a toddler's ability to reason.

But I tell you what I DO find funny. First of all, calling others a "descendent of those losers". That is so beyond absurd. Lookaround at what those "losers" created the foundation for.

Perhaps you havent heard. It is 2009. Please get over the pilgrims, the indians, etc. Live in this world, the real world, with its issues and problems.

What a farce.

Losers eh? Those Pilgrim built the very country and foundations probably that you now vent your hatred from.

I would suggest that you went away and read a good history book before you call my ancestors. YOU are the loser by the sounds of things.

You're boring me now, GOODBYE.

So what do you want? You want the immigrants to do the same? You want them to attack and pillage the US villages and cities, execute a few million people, and send all the rest to extermination camps(commonly called reservations in the past)?

I find your lack of understanding for the History of the United States very offensive.

Folks.. the Spanish, and the Mexican Nation after the Spanish, offered a very serious Silver Cartwheel for an Indian Scalp. That folks.. was a whole lot of money and in fact, came from the Catholic Church. The American Apache, Comanche, Navajo and all the rest, were the foremost targets of that policy. The hatred for the Spanish Solders was intense, and when the policy was rejuvenated under the Mexican Army, the hatred continued. There were very, very few Mexicans the Indians allowed in the United States, and almost no Mexican Indians.

Her people were not in the United States. They were in Mexico.

The influx of immigrants ... the fleeing from Europe.. was massive. The role of 'Hunter Gatherers', and that was almost all the tribes, was NOT working. They had to change, and in, for example, the Sioux Nation, they became farmers and boy did they do well.. and boy are they still doing well. The American Aborigine assimilated with the European Farmers and both benefited a very great deal.

Europeans had booze. American Indians were not tolerant to that booze. No one.. none.. understood it. Everyone thought the Indians were simply drinking to much. The science was not in place, and the Indians lost respect in the Southwest. We understand now.. that has changed.

My last point: there were well over a thousand languages among the Native Aborigine. They learned English because it became a language of trade, and the tribes had to trade, or die.

Crazy isn't it... no history and making very ugly comments.

GROW UP. All you are trying to do is amuse your boring existence ( or as they call it here...TROLLING).
This was NOT a United Nation then however, many Europeans tried to learn the language of the native people. Funny thing is, while you are throwing around the word " Assimilate" Not all Natives to this Continent spoke the same language. There were many languages spoken back then and still today.

Can you give any good reason why immigrants of today shouldn't have to assimilate??

Many did. And there were many more who simply did not live with your ancestors.

Many of the Pilgrims did learn the local languages and customs.

"Do you find it funny the Descendants of those losers are telling immigrants to assimilate and learn English in the United States?" The only 'losers' are the ones who sold their land cheap.

You really need to learn your history. And live in this century.

Most of your ancestors did not actually own any land, they were nomads. They were so nomadic that they came from Eastern Europe.

It wasn't your land to begin with.

Probably because the Pilgrims and Europeans didn't believe in dancing half naked around a campfire, patting their hand over their mouths saying "woo woo woo" and wearing bones and beads around their neck as their definition of "civilized".
The Pilgrims and Europeans, that came to this country, were already civilized and didn't want to go backwards by assimilating and start scalping each other.
