Why did the fish I was babysitting die?

I fed them three times a day. Two of the ten fish I was watching died, I'm not sure why. The rest of the fish are fine, but two of the same kind died.
Did I feed them too much? All the sudden, I just saw them floating at the top.

What could have happened?
 
you definitely overfed them! Fish only need to be fed once a day- twice if very small amount. Most fish can go for a few days without being fed at all, which is actually better for them than to be overfed.
