Why did Obama fail to keep AAA US credit rating

Yeah. Like when they deliver lower unemployment and constant wage increases and economic growth. Or when they actually manage to get important measures for a nation's future passed.

He is not an idiot. He's an idealogue who has done just what you have described, surrounded himself with people willing to subscribe to his belief. He is a true believer.

Yes and no. Obama can veto, and he was pretty vocal that he would be vetoing anything he didn't like. Considering the level of partisanship, no way could a veto be overridden. So he did play his part in the soap opera.

I voted idiot/over his head, btw. This guy has no business running a lemonade stand, much less a country. He's soft and too idealistic.

Plus he doesn't understand how bad entitlements are.

Are you willing to tax hedge fund executives at 20% instead of 15%?

Are you willing to get rid of special interest tax deductions such as the ridiculously stupid one for corporate jets?

It isn't, but you strike me as the sort of person who can't distinguish between concrete subjects and abstract concerns.

Most people don't give a rats ass what type of government they live under, so long as it's competent and doesn't meddle in their personal lives too much. It's always been a fringe minority who get up in arms about the intangibles.

DepenRAB on the tax deduction in question, but I don't really see why these two would be necessarily bad. The deduction on unsuccessful oil drilling was, however, not one I would have eliminated since it basically protects against loss to exploration companies and improves US energy security.
