Why did my fish commit suicide!?!?!?

I had two sowrd tails, a male and femail. The male got some disease where it got these white dots all over it and parts of its fins were like deteriorating and it obviously died. After its death, the female wouldnt eat and therfore it died. WHY!?!
Not lonliness cuz i had other fish in the tank. Oh and by the way, i have a 20 g with a large molly two coris, two tetras, a pleco. Good?

Any ideas or reccomendations for a 55 gallon tank?!
 
White dots are a sign of Ich. A parasite that will infest your tank and effect the other fish in it. You need to treat your whole tank for Ich or they will all get sick.

The female probably had ich too but you could not see it because the ich will live in the gills, mouth, and nose or the fish so you had no clue it was there.

Musta loved eachother,
& the fish got into a deep depression & starved itself,either to just die.
Or losing its appetite from depression.
 
Well, anytime you see a change in a fish, you should get this medication you drop into the water at the pet store. Just describe what you're seeing on the fish and they will give you what you need. If the fish were paired together for awhile, then I could see why the other fish stopped acting normally and didn't eat. Maybe she was just sad.
