Why did Jack Ruby kill Oswald?

Was there a reason? Or was he just a huge fan of JFK?
Guys this killing was live on tv, I dont think it was just a regular hit.
Ruby wasnt executed, he died in prison.
 
He had a debt to pay to the Mafia and they insisted he do "a little job" for them.

He said it was because lee harvery oswald had killed the president....but there are therorys that it was to stop him talking ..thats if he did it in the first place
 
Jack Ruby was a very religious man. I think he wanted Jackie Kennedy to not have to become traumized during the trail because she had to testify and also because of his beliefs he didn't think it was fair for Oswald to live because Oswald killed JFK without giving him a chance to live. He might have been a fan but he was executed in the electric chair before anyone knew if he was or not. Some people say Ruby was conspiracing with Oswald. I don't think we ever will know now that both men are dead.
 
Honestly I don't know. He "claimed" to "revenge" for Jackeline Bouvier Kennedy, future Onassis. Maybe he was part of some conspiracy. He may have belonged once to the Al Capone or Bugs Moran's gangs when as a hoodlum teenager. We will never know.
P.D.: Excuse me but Mr. Ruby died from cancer, some said poisoned. I can't say. He was not executed but waiting another trial in 1967.
 
I believe the reason he gave was that he did not want Jackie Kennedy to have to undergo the trauma of having to sit through the trial of her husband's murderer and testify herself.

If that is the case, it's surely the most bizarre reason for a murder I've heard outside the page of the Fortean Times.
