Why did I find motor oil in my air filter on my 2005 Honda F 12 jet ski?

I have two identical jet skis, on both I changed the oil and oil filter about a month ago, adding 4 quarts of oil. the manual says 4.3-4.7 quarts if you change both all of the oil and the filter, so I wanted to top off the rest when I had a chance to run the skis. I ran one, everything worked fine, the oil level was perfect when I checked it. On the other jet ski, I ran it and it sounded even smoother than the first, but the oil level was a tad low, but still on the dip stick, so i topped it off a little.

Then I checked the air filters, and the first jet ski had a perfectly dry filter and filter box, while the second jet ski that was a little low on oil, had its air filter and air filter box soaked with motor oil!

I cleaned up the oil as much as I could, as my arm can fully reach into the air box. I have ordered new filters, but do I need to worry about something else?

I do not believe the jet ski was flipped over incorrectly ever, and not the last time I took it out....and the oil didn't seem like real dirty oil so it seems like it may have been the new oil we put in.

Well Danman, I know absolutely NOTHING about jet ski's, but I saw this question (with no answers), so I thought I would toss in my experience with the issue.
I had oil in the air intake on my new, '64 Chevy truck, once, and it came down to a faulty PCV valve (for smog), located on top of the valve cover.
I don't have a clue if jet ski's have smog stuff or not, but it might be something to check.
Good luck,,,,,,,,,,o G
