Wasn't that just a set-up, as someone has suggested? Would any of you parents put something in the middle of the living room that would kill your kids if they touched it, and then hang shiny fruit on it to entice them? It seems like kind of a mean thing for a loving God to do.
And what was the deal with the talking snake? If God created Eden to be perfect, then where the heck did that thing come from? If satan was so evil that he got kicked out of Heaven, why would God let him go harass innocent creatures on Earth?
When we die and go to Heaven, is there going to be a giant "touch this and go to Hell" button in the middle of the golden crossroads to entice us? Will there be some elegant talking creature to entice us there, too?
