Why did GM still have to file for Bankruptcy even though they got billions?

If somebody gave me even a million, I wouldn't need to ask anybody for anything ever. But the Government gave out billions and they still went under, why?
ew, the Pontiac Aztek is yuck, it's one of the worst looking cars ever so I heard.
I actually invested in both Ford and GM when they were low.

Lost my money in GM but like doubled it in Ford, so I'm about even for right now.

TO answer part of your quesiton...the company that size take billions to run that is why billions...now that being said...it should never have been given....it should have been allowed to fail and start over with new management....we should never "bail out" companies...let the fall so new ones can take over...that is free markets and that is what works.

GM was already going down the sh*tter (bad business decisions), and the government gave them billions (horrible waste of our tax dollars). Horrible decisions on both sides...
Look at Ford (didn't take bail out money) doing just fine, when gm stocks used to be like double that of ford.
