Why did Gary the Golden Garden Gnome ask double the fee he normally asked for

making crosses? Somewhat around 33 AD (give or take a few years), the Romans were planning on executing a rebel leader in the country that was to be known (legitimate or not) as Israel. Not so very special, one may say, but this particular specimen claimed to be the son of a god, whereas he just was a bastard son of a Roman Centurion. But he really was nothing but a False Prophet.

Gary the Golden Garden Gnome (beer be upon him) was working as a carpenter in those days. Upon hearing of this, he proposed he'd make the cross, but only at a double fee he normally did for making a cross. Why did Gary ask twice the fee?
