why did athens civilizations locate where they located ?

want to know why they live their wat made them live in ancient greece or athens greece in b.c
 
Why is any civilization in the place where they are/were located? Because most of the people, of that civilization, were either born there or moved there to live. Why do Europeans live in Europe or Americans live in America or Chinese live in China (of course, other than the ones who move out)?
