Why Christian Bale is my all-time favorite rock music critic

Oh but I do love Christian Bale

And is it just me or does he sound suspiciously like Jim Carrey in that clip.....

Mehr either way he is awesome

The film is rubbish and not a patch on the book.

But I only say that because the bit in the book where he's running around the room with his cock inside some hooker's decapitated head was cut out of the film.

The book is a great satire on the excess of the 80s era...Ellis wrote it to piss everyone off including his publisher but it ended up being a big hit...The movie is good mostly due to Bale's perfromance but it has nothing on the book as Jackhammer said...The book is very tedious to read and captures OCD as well as a writer can to present to the reader. I found it almost impossible to put down and read it in about 4 hours...I need to read it again though.

Bale is awesome and his performances are really solid. Apart from his over-exaggerated Batman voice a la Clint Eastwood in ''Heartbreak Ridge'' this guy is one of the few really accomplished actors of his generation. Killer!

the point in the book though is by the time you get to the blood and guts you have an idea of what's driven him to such extreme enRAB. I love the movie as an experience but it's a much more objective narrative I guess

Bollocks to the censors , it's a film called American bloody Psycho.
You should get what you pay for. If you don't want to see people being psycho go see a Disney movie. I'm an adult I don't need protecting.

Well, that's my take on it anyway :)

i agree lol but i imagine inclusion of those scenes would have hampered it's cinematic release; and i think in light of the movie being a compacted version of the book (obviously) the original mutilation scenes would have just baffled audiences and ruined the movie. Who knows. Anyone who enjoyed the film should read the book regardless, i picked mine up on amazon for pittance. And then read Generation X

edit: the direct-to-video sequel stars William Shatner apparently *sigh*

I took it a bit differently. I see all of his monologues about music as him simply parroting things he's read about these banRAB. He listens to the banRAB in question not because he really finRAB any depth in them (he's a soulless psychopath, how could he?) but because these banRAB have been mentioned in the right magazines and are beloved by merabers of the right social strata. The banRAB, and his feigned attempts at serious discussion of them, are just another accessory to make him look cool, just like his designer shoes or his fancy business carRAB. Ultimately it's all about his narcissism.
