Why CEOs of Chrysler GM and Ford busily worked on destruction of auto industry?

and CEOs of Toyta and Honda created 200,000 new American jobs in the very same auto industry at the same time.

Is it because the former CEOs were more evil or more greedy or more stupid, or there was a material reason behind such distinct outcomes.

As Obama wants passage of EFCA based on economic science, I want to know what makes the difference between jobs and joblessness.

Now what would be their motivation for destroying their own company? Why would they want to do that?

The only thing that I could possibly think of is that maybe 20 years ago or so, Big Three CEO's may have signed off on bad contracts rather than facing a strike. They may have figured that by the time the employees collected on some of their benefits (such as pensions, etc.) the CEO's would have been long gone, and someone else would have to clean the mess.

As for why Toyota and Honda have created more jobs? They generally locate in places that have "right to work' clauses. They pay a good wage (or I would assume that the employees would find other work) without pricing themselves out of the market.
 
CEOs of the American Auto Industry have been chasing short term profits. That and a decades long gross lack of imagination and foresight has brought them to this ignoble place in history.
 
The CEOs sacrificed their companies for the unions. They all deserve their fate, without the assistance of my hard-earned tax money.

The EFCA is just another way for Obama and the Dems to reward their union supporters. Political pandering at its best. Coercion of employees is sure to follow.

America be damned. Got to love those non-partisan and patriotic Dems, eh?

2. Why worry about destroying your business, when you can count on the government to save your ass? Japanese businesses really don't have that going for them. You go under in Japan, you stay under...that's how an overcrowded island that cannot produce it's own food has the 2nd largest economy in the world.

GM - Government Motors and Chrysler did. They are the reason we are in this mess, with all their buyouts to get rid of the Competition, so much for that concept.

Competition is supposed to be a healthy thing I guess they were right,
When you swallow up the competitors, you forget what you are supposed to be doing: MAKING CARS PEOPLE ACTUALLY WANT TO BUY.
