WHY cant you talk and use data on verizon's 3g?

Because AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM networks, which runs voice and data on the same frequency. It has nothing to do with EDGE/3G, etc. A CDMA network runs them on different frequencies. When LTE launches, that is completely different than CDMA, so if you are in an area with LTE, you will be able to surf and talk and the same time. Not sure how WiMax works for Sprint...

From my understanding when you use say AT&T or tmobile the voice will use the EDGE/GSRP/GSM while the data will use the G3 antennae.
So why does verizon not do this? Why is there 3g ONLY phone or data, not both.
The only way around this is if you are on wifi....

Anyone want to explain, i have not found a single REAL answer on any forum post or from verizon themselves... 1/2 of them dont even know what EDGE or GSM even is....
