I was wondering why a biological entity in "the culture" can't become a machine without being frowned upon. I mean, people can take any form they want (from completely different species to metallic bushes) but why is becoming mechanical over the line? I haven't found anything on the internet explaining why it's like that. Is there some hidden wisdon on still retaining your "biological" side? I have no idea why it would be like that. I mean, species in the culture favor augmentations ranging from improved senses to lazer equipped fingernails. And it was stated the culture's members' personalities ranged all over the map. Wouldn't a good portion of the population consider it cause it would be just like another physical improvement? Someone please care to explain, cause Mr. Banks makes my head hurt.
