Why Can't People Turn off Mobiles when they go to the cinema

Went to the cinema last night and once again I had someone there in few rows in front of me who had to keep texting on their phone and at one point even phoned someone up or answered it

it's even worse now as all the mobiles have backlights and LCD screens etc so evenif they txt someone you can see it a mile away.

what sort of person even thinks of using their mobile in a cinema ?

Surely there must be some way for cinemas to stop mobile signals working then they can tell everyone it won't work so just turn it off.. problem solved

God, during Magicians the other day, there was this big group of 'chavs' in the other side of the cinema - and right towarRAB the end, I swear they were even playing music on their phones. It was so annoying.

My mobile is provided by my work, and must be on at all times as I am on 24-hour emergency call through it. However, when at the cinema I set it to vibrate only (no ringer) and keep it in my shirt pocket. If somebody neeRAB to get in touch with me, I can feel it vibrating and get up out of my seat, go into the cinema foyer and take the call. Anybody who can't be bothered doing this should really be asked to hand in their mobile as they enter the cinema, and have it returned to them as they leave.

If you must have your mobile on you in case of an emergency, then put it on vibrate. I had to tell someone to either put their mobile away or leave the cinema yesterday. If the film is that boring, then feel free to walk out and not disturb others while playing with your phone.

Me and my sister went to the cinema to see Spiderman 3 and we were like half through the film and all of a sudden my phone starts to ring and it was my mum. (Well, actually I put it on to vibrate!!) You know what I had to do?!

I had my coat with me on my lap and put my coat over my head and started to talk with my mum, by whispering to her. She was ringing me to say when are you coming home and I said to her that we (me and my sisters) we coming home late, because we were watching the 9pm showing instead of the 8pm, because people were queuing for the 8pm showing!! :o

well not only is the noise an annoying thing but now even if you get your phone our the screens are so briht everyone can see it.. some people just have no manners at all

well at the cinema i usually go to the staff and managers are all about 16 years old and English isn't always their first language so it's not always that easy

I remember sitting in the cinema when my mums phone went off. She had forgotten to switch it off. (How embarassing :o ) Worst thing is, she picked it up and threw it at me. needless to say I now keep asking her if she has switched it off before the film starts.....

Last Saturday when I went to see 28 Weeks Later there was a girl sitting in front of my mate, texting on her phone in the middle of the film, he asked her to turn it off which she did but didn't look too pleased about it, phones now a days are like light houses, signal blockers should be mandatory in cinemas and theatres.

Its funny people still keep their phones on since normaly before the film theres a big message on the screen asking to make sure your phone is off.

yep there is but some people might die if they ever turned their phones off or didn't look at it every 5 mins so you can't expect them to take any notice of that

lets face it most of the stuff these chavs get up to is against the law and that doesn't stop them so you can't expect them to take any notice of a message saying turn your phone off

Dont you just love people like these when you go to the cinema to watch a movie! Must have been quite difficult to go out into the foyer and take the call....Totally selfish!
