Why cant my sim (TS3) cook pancakes?

When I click on the fridge and click have pancakes, they start to make it, but when it goes to the pan, they just put it down. I'm not really sure how well I explained that, but if you want me to elaborate, just ask X]
 
It sounds like they cannot get to the stove or maybe they don't have enough room to prepare them. Check to make sure they have clearance all around and above the stove and counter tops. Also if you sims are in a bad mood (stinky, tired, bored) they won't do what you ask them to do. Don't forget to read manuals for cooking (I think the title is something like "too much salt vol. 1, there is a vol. 2) and buy new recipes as they progress. Both of these are available at the bookstore. Watching cooking shows on TV, attending cooking classes and practice will make your skill go up.
