Why can't my Ipad connect to Youtube?

Every time I go onto the Youtube app on my Ipad, it says "Cannot connect to Youtube". Can someone please tell me what is wrong? Oh, and I can't get on Youtube on Safari because my Ipad can't get Adobe Flash.
