Why cant i view my videos i recorded using my phone on my PC?

im using a sony ericsson w980. i've transferred some videos i've recorded from my phone to my PC via transfer cable. when i try to view them on winamp but i dont see anything i just hear the sound. i'm trying to edit them using windows movie make but the file isnt supported.

so should i convert the videos or something?
 
Most likely, the video is in 3gp format. You need to convert it to wmv in order to edit it with Windows Movie Maker. Download a program, the best i know is WM Converter, and swap it from 3gp to wmv.
