Why can't i type talk chat in Halo Combat Evolved Multiplayer?

I have re-downloaded the version several times, but I still can't type anything... It's like I'm muted! I also full scanned my computer for viruses, trojans, etc. and it was clean.
How do I solve this problem?

first of all that is an old game and not many people probably talk on it anymore. try calling xbox and see waht they have to say.

download patch aberham5201 in order to chat.

I have had this problem. You prolly need to download a patch, or something to fix it. Like adobe.
