why can't i see my sim at work or i restaurants in sims 3?

why can't i see my sim at work or i restaurants in sims 3? it is very frustrating. I like the game but there are things that do frustrate me.
 
That would take an huge amount of memory. Then your game would not run properly. Maybe in the next add on they will have enough technology to do this. Fingers crossed.
