Why cant I save picture messages to my phone (Motorola Backflip)?

I just got the motorola backflip today and my friends sent me some pictures through texts..but it seems like all the pictures they send me cant actually save to my phone..i dont see an option anywhere to save the picture they sent me to my photos on my phone..also the pictures come up as like a slide show...can someone please please help me..thankss
also when i highlight the message and hold it..then try to tap the save slideshow button...a message then comes up and says error saving attachment.
