I have put use my 360.... does it take a while?

no, you have to go and edit this profile and click the use 360 picture.
be sure to save it, it should work.

you cant because you have to chose your photo.

you have to check use as primary on the photo you want and save.

you have to make it smaller...
Click on the picture you want to upload...then right click on it and select Open with Paint/or EDIT...and it will transport you to PAINT...
Click on Image-->resize/scew
make the percentage set for :
Horizontal=30%
Vertical= 30%
this will shrink the pic...keep making the adjustments until it is about a 1inch by 1inch picture.
then you can upload into Yahoo and use it for your Avatar! haha
