Why can't I download Adobe Flash Player on my laptop?

Do you have a 64 bit operating system? If you do Adobe Flash Player is not compatible if you are using a 64 bit browser. Go to your start menu and look for the Internet Explorer, not the one that says IE 64 bit. Try again with the 32 bit IE.

I have never been able to download adobe flash, and its really annoying me. I go to download it, but it just never finishes downloading, even after hours. I have windows 7, and am using google chrome, though I have even tried to download it with explorer. How can I get this dowloaded once and for all?
Is it something to do with Active X? whatever that is!?
Or Norton antivirus?
