don't believe it because of what you said, and i think they never actually finished the books either, plus a lot of the books are missing.....

Many people misunderstand the concept of the 2012 theory. However, it is not the literal end of the world, but perhaps the end of an era. A new beginning in perhaps astronomical predictions and events. THe Mayan Civilian ended abruptly due to one theory that the Spanish brought diseases such as small pox, polio etc, Which the Mayan culture did not have immunity against.
of all the ludicrous claims made by the 2012 Doomies, the one about the Mayan calendar is the nuttiest. Also, it is the one most full of lies (which is saying something), most libelous, and most contrived.
according to all modern scholars of the Mayan civilization, the rolling over of a Long Count was an excuse for a party, not a prediction of Doom... also, each Long Count was 144,000 days long, which after 13 of these would indicate that the Mayan calendar began 5000 years ago... so, we are to believe that Mayans of 3000 BC were sophisticated enough to be able to see some calamity in store for the world FIVE MILLENNIA into the future? That's one damn fine crystal ball. Odd that only ONE MAN, the doubtable Jose Areyoukiddingme, could see the (*) on the calendar indicating that 2012 will be the last Long Count. Nope, 13 is the end.... so what if they were using base 20.

That's the thing, they didn't predict anything.
2012 is the end of their calendar, just like December 31st is always the end of our calendars. But just because it reaches December 31st, does not mean it is the end of the world, does it? We just need to buy a new calendar, which is kinda like the end of the world, especially if you are broke.
Same with the Mayan calendar. Relax!
