why at t-mobile, to get a blackberry curve it is required to get unlimited web?

The Blackberry is a Smartphone.
The new policy for practically all the companies is that you are required to get a data package with the phone. Well without the package, you can't use all of the features that the phone has to offer. (Not like theyre doing you a favor) I guess thats how they get paid more.... becuase they know people want the Blackberry and G1 and T-Mobile Touch, etc. Sorry. The regular smartphones only require a $10/month plan, consider those.

Because pretty much everything blackberry's do uses data (web) without it your bill would be around $200 more expensive. They are just saving you from running up costs.

Well basically the whole point of a blackberry is instant email, which requires lots of data transfer...if you're not going to use this service, there's not really much point getting a blackberry...also there are lots of other features available on a blackberry which require a constant data connection...because of this even if you never actually 'go on the web'...without a data plan your bill would be massive, so they make you get one to stop that from happening! Hope this helps!
