WHY ARN'T MY FIGHTING FISH BREEDING?

i have fighting fish and i have put them in the same tank (male and female) the female is like giving herself to him but every time he sees me he swims away like a pussy why is he doing this and the tank is pretty big i think it is like 40x20 i think but please help
 
is it the right temp.? maybe he isn't in the mood. separate them for a couple days and then put her back in hopefully that will work. feed them some blood worms or some kind of other food than flakes or what ever you feed them. it should work then.
