Why aren't the Churches more involved in the Health Care Debate?

I'm certain Jesus would want more people regardless of faith to be covered under a comprehensive and relatively inexpensive health care plan or at least be given the option to be enrolled in such a program. What happened to the love?

Seems like the only time the Churches come out of the pulpit (well the ones most often mentioned) is when it has something to do with sexual predators and abortion.

My political and religious beliefs are vastly different. I personally gave money to a family in need the other day, and it was over medical bills. But I do not support forced "charity". Government programs have proven to be poorly run and ineffective. If you wanna really get into what the Bible actually tells us to do in the New Testament, it would only cover widows over the age of 60 to have no family to care for them. That's the only group the Church is commanded to care for.

Bishop check list:
1.Block gay marriage
2.Blow up abortion clinics
3.Support the death penalty
4.WATCH the children
5.Start a war in the south pole between catholic polar bears and muslim ice fish.
6.Health care debate
7.Bible study.....
they getting there
just sit back and wait

The Catholic church was very involved in this last debate. They pretty much single handedly are responsible for abortion not being included.
