Why aren't bicycle riders required to wear protective armor plating?

I'm required to wear a seat belt to protect myself and if I don't I will be given a ticket which will cost me $50. Well golly gee bike riders are an accident looking for a place to happen. It is a joke that they get away with blocking traffic, cutting in front of you, j crossing the streets, riding in the traffic lanes, etc, and they whine and cry because we get upset with them - poor little babies. Bicycle riders must be required to wear armor plate suits while on city streets. If they don't the fine should be $50. Sounds fair to me! This is in their best interests and will protect them from themselves and if they fall or get bumped into while pulling out in the traffic they won't get little hurties. 65 years of riding bikes and driving a vehicle. They just are not supposed to be on the same road. sorry you don't like that, but too bad. Don't cry it will be ok - the armor will only weigh about 200 pounds.
 
I know you are raving, but you are fighting the wrong people. Those who ride bikes ARE suppose to abide by traffic laws. It is your local police forces fault that the laws aren't upheld. They are suppose to signal, and everything.

However, I think the seatbelt law is an ok one. From my experience, those that use a seatbelt tend to be safer drivers. So maybe it will change those that don't wear it. I don't even think about putting it on anymore.

One thing that SHOULD be enforced more than the driver wearing a seatbelt, is making the passengers wear one. I think the driver should get a ticket for unbelted passengers, and a bigger ticket if they are minors.

P.S. sir ignorance please call the local police department if you dont believe bicycles are allowed on the road. They will educate you about the law on bicycles on the road. Besides, as a cyclist myself Im on the side of the road. I am hardly impeding traffic and if I make you anxious, its because you would get into an accident riding a bike, NOT ME. Simply, you are an idiot that couldnt do what I do so your jealousy causes you to write up hateful stupidity without realizing how it makes you look!!
 
You need to read up on the laws regarding bicycles. They are considered a vehicle and are allowed on the street. With your help we can made cycling much safer by getting bike lanes and educating the public. The armour idea is cool but implacable.

Where I live, some used bikes are bought below $50/- each

Many/most road bikes weigh less than 20 pounds

The weight of the armour will cause more accidents than before

No road bike built to carry the cyclist plus 200 pounds of armour

Many/most cyclists never fetched 200 pounds on a bike
