why aren't acquisition or limewire working on my computer?

i opened up acquisition and it wouldn't connect to the internet. then, i opened up limewire (my back up) and it ALSO wouldn't connect to the interent. otherwise, my internet is working very well. so i downloaded frostwire and opened that up and the internet was working fine but it wouldn't let me download anything, it kept saying there was an error.

also, is there any other program i should try?

and i know it's illegal leave me alone.
