why are you a buffet religious practitioner?

Are you looking in the mirror again. To assume that people are doing this you must have some experience with it. Oh excuse me, of course not, your perfect. Why do you think there is this weird thing called forgiveness. Perfection takes time, and the last time I checked, I didn't see very many perfected individuals.

Surely if anything that would be an a la carte religious practitioner.

Anyway, everybody has to pick and choose what they believe, in order to avoid becoming entangled in millennia of doctrinal contradictions. It is a matter of individual conscience. Usually atheists spend all their time berating religions for not allowing their followers any of this. Now you seem to think they have too much.

Absolutely. I am an adult and if I read something that I know from my life experiences to be untrue, I dismiss it. Anyone should be willing to use his God given intellect to do that.

It is not possible to NOT pick and choose, especially if you happen to be Christian.

For example, I happen to be Wiccan (true). You meet me. I tell you that I'm Wiccan. Now, do you follow "thou shalt not suffer a Witch to live", or "thou shalt not kill"? Either you have to murder me or you have to not murder me, and either choice violates part of God's law.

For the record, I would prefer it if you didn't.

YES! Someone finally asked this question! Yeah since when can you pick and choose what you want out of the bible...I think that's kind of funny! I wish I could give YOU points for the question!

Why do you care? Humans are free to believe as they wish. Diversity is a good thing in nature and human philosophy. What a grey boring world it would be if everyone thought only as you do.

Yes, I've been accused of being a "buffet pagan." Better that than be so unimaginative and fearful of new ideas that you adhere to your little rules for dear life lest you go squealing off into the stratosphere like a lost balloon.

And yes, some pagans are just as hung up on rules as people of other religions. Sort of defeats the idea of being a pagan, as far as I'm concerned, if you refuse to use your own mind to determine what you believe.
