Why are Toyota Parts so expensive?

What gives. The parts are hard to find and expensive. It's the most popular car in America so parts should be all over the place. At these prices couldn't I have a BMW or a Cadillac?

Head lights for a 2002 are 250.00 each? Lid for console is 150.00? Plastic door handle is 45.00?
