Why are those who complain about the republicans complaint of social programs?

I ask this because some say that the republicans don't want to help the poor and were fine with spending billions on the war in Iraq instead.
All I have to say is the Iraq war may have cost some but it has an end. War on poverty has been going on longer than any other war in our entire history and has cost more money to fund it and there is no end in site. In this war there are no victors only victims.

They are similar, war on poverty, war on drugs, etc - all of them are an excuse for the government to spend an ever increasing percentage of our money, and all of them create far more problems than they solve.

Why do people think that poor=unemployed? I work 2 jobs, go to school full time and babysit for 6 hours every monday, wednesday and friday. Im under the poverty line and get food stamps and medicaid, which i need. But fine go support the war, because getting rid of those weapons of mass destruction is much more important then taking care of families.

helping the poor should be voluntary and privatized, the gov't has no reason to keep people unemployed and on the voting record, it's a scam. There should be private networks that interview people, challenge people and help people.
