For those out there who have a a solid background on US History, could you explain to me why are these statements true (or perhaps false) based on what history tells us? The more specific you can be (or refer to sources) the better =)

“Decade after decade, Americans stand out from others in their belief that their own individual actions determine how they fare.”

“Americans have always been skeptical of activist government, and that skepticism remains.”

“The Great Depression altered the national consciousness. So far, the Great Recession has not.”

** For example, we know The New Deal was a period where people liked activist government ... can u give me examples like that to support why the statements are true or false? Simple "true or false" without your reasoning wont help

(Q)“Decade after decade, Americans stand out from others in their belief that their own individual actions determine how they fare.”

(A)True - Americans tend to be more individualist and believe in self determination. I think it's been like that since the pre-Revolutionary War.

(Q) “Americans have always been skeptical of activist government, and that skepticism remains.”

(A) True - although I am having issues with that answer based on the what is happening today with the current President. We have one of the most activist socialistic Administration in the history of the country. I am skeptical but it seem people gobbling this guys garbage.

(Q) “The Great Depression altered the national consciousness. So far, the Great Recession has not.”

(A) This question is absurd. You can't answer the first part and second part fairly. Great Depression did alter the national consciousness (that's true). There is no question that people are more conscious about spending today - so that True.
